pioneering the wild west route

    Potential Pioneering Rider Information
Please complete by Monday December 11, 2017

What are your main aspirations for being a pioneering rider of the Wild West Route in 2018?
What planning/navigation resources would you need Bikepacking Roots to provide about the Wild West Route for you to feel completely comfortable planning for and riding the route? We will provide GPS data and some detailed route information, but these resources will be preliminary and somewhat skeletal.
Please share with us how your experience and ambition lends itself to generally meeting the following criteria:
    1. Fully recognize the time commitment of a rugged route route between 2,700 and 2,900 miles in length (depending on several options). For most experienced bikepackers doing 60- to 70-mile days, this looks like 5-8+ weeks.
    2. Have previously done an unsupported bikepacking tour more than a week in length
    3. Have ridden a previously unridden route or a self-developed route in relatively remote country (i.e., not following a route guide)
    4. Feel comfortable by not having abundant information about the route from which to plan
    5. Are not at all intimidated by the planning, preparation for, or riding of the Wild West Route
    6. And we are not looking for riders who are aiming to “race” this route. We want riders who are willing to linger in towns, share tales with local residents, learn along the way, take photographs, and become immersed in the wildness of the route. If setting a fast time on this route is your primary goal, then please wait at least another year to do so.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with us? It would be helpful for us to hear additional specifics about what parts of the route you're most interested in riding (and potentially when and in what direction) if the whole length of the country is not in the cards for you next summer.
Thanks! We'll be following up after New Years at the latest.
