Bikepacking Roots will publish updates or detours for any route closures of which we are aware that are likely to last for more than a short time. These longer-term closures may result from wildfires, logging, construction, flooding, etc. We cannot guarantee that we will be aware of all route closures, particularly during peak wildfire season, and for short-lived closures due to small wildfires, detours may not be issued. Also note that any posted detours have will most likely not been scouted on the ground. Should you encounter a closure along the route, please obey all posted regulations and seek out your own detour if we have not created one.
Updates/alerts for the Northwoods Route for the 2021 riding season (as of 2 September, 2021)
- The dispersed camping closure in the Superior National Forest due to fire danger has been lifted as of September 2!
- For riders planning to travel across Isle Royale in mid- to late September, 2021, the National Park Service may be closing the dock at Rock Harbor for renovations. That could mean that ferry operations end earlier than usual from Copper Harbor. Please contact Isle Royale National Park for updates.
